What a year 2024 was at the Historic Twin Lakes Community Schoolhouse! We are so grateful for the incredible support from our donors, sponsors, volunteers, and our amazing community. Truly, we couldn’t do it without you!
This year, our two main fundraisers at the Schoolhouse—Tea Time at the Schoolhouse (Spring) and the Ice Cream Social (Summer)—were a huge success, and we’re excited to bring them back in 2025! Stay tuned for more details soon. Proceeds from these events help us cover maintenance costs and fund restoration projects for the beloved Twin Lakes Historical Schoolhouse.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to our local businesses and private donors who generously contributed items for our silent auctions and raffle baskets. And to our amazing volunteers, who dedicate their time and talents to making these events successful and keeping the Schoolhouse and grounds looking their best—we couldn’t do it without you. Finally, thank you to everyone who attended our events and showed their support. You all are the heart of our community!
Another way we raise funds is through our Twin Lakes Community Calendar. Thank you to everyone who submitted stunning photos for this year’s calendar—it’s truly a work of art! We still have a few calendars left, so visit twinlakesschoolhouse.com to order yours.
This year, we completed two major projects:
Installing French drains around the Schoolhouse to help protect the foundation.
Refinishing the hardwood floors (red fir) inside the Schoolhouse. They turned out absolutely beautiful
Looking ahead, we’re planning exciting restoration projects, including a pergola over the entry stairs and exploring the possibility of adding an ADA-accessible entrance.
In December, we hosted our annual Canned Food Drive for the Rathdrum Food Bank, and WOW—your generosity blew us away! Thanks to your donations of non-perishable food, personal care items, diapers, formula, and monetary gifts, we delivered two truckloads of items just before Christmas. Amazing! Thank you all for making such a difference. Yes, we’ll be doing it again in 2025!
We’d also like to take a moment to recognize and thank Brenda Watkins, our outgoing board president. Brenda has been a driving force behind the Schoolhouse for the past 10 years, with the last seven as President. Under her leadership, we’ve seen incredible progress in fundraising, community outreach, and restoration projects. Her passion for the Schoolhouse and her community is contagious, and we are so grateful for everything she and her family have done for us. While Brenda has passed the reins to our new president, Katie Simmons, we’re thrilled that she will continue to be actively involved. Brenda, thank you for your dedication and heart!
Interested in volunteering? We’d love to have you! As the saying goes, “Many hands make light work.” Whether it’s helping with spring yard clean-up or lending a hand at our fundraising events, volunteering is a great way to connect with your community, catch up with old friends, and make new ones.
